Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I support you in this.
The other day Jakob and I were out for dinner with my friend Shanna. I had a Deanna Troi in my bag and I puppet showed her along the edge of the table. I was sad that I only had the one. We could have had a Trekkie Star Trek Pals puppet show if it wasn't for my lack of action figures.
What I'm trying to say here is that one can never have too many action figures.

Wow. You are my new nerd hero. I have action figures everywhere I consider my stomping ground - my desk here at work, my "geek cave" at home, tucked away at my parents' house...but not actually on me. I think I need to change that...
So which Deanna was it? Lavender jumpsuit, maroon jumpsuit, or standard issue uniform? Or were you in a saucy mood and had Deanna as an "Ancient West" gunslinger?

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
It was the same lavender jumpsuit Troi as is pictured on the Nerd Hurdles page. Riker was in there too, but he fell out and is now either on a shelf or on the floor depending on what the cats have seen fit to do with him. I used to make a point of ALWAYS having Capt. Picard with me. He was great for winning "What's the weirdest thing in your bag?" competitions.
I'll just say that having a ST:TNG action figure on your person can be very soothing at times. I highly recommend it.

That's so awesome, Mandi! A great conversation starter too, I'm sure. And a good way of seeing who around you has a sense of humor, and who is a giant stick in the mud...
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Yeah, and I good way to judge who is going to beat me up in an alley at the earliest opportunity.

Do you think Karen would beat you up for your lavender-dressed Troi?!?!!?

Looks like it's time to dust off "blue medical smock Beverly" for my backpack...maybe I'll even bring her with me for future border crossings...Mandi wrote:I'll just say that having a ST:TNG action figure on your person can be very soothing at times. I highly recommend it.

Do you think Karen doesn't already have a lavender-dressed Troi?Tony wrote:Mandi wrote:Yeah, and I good way to judge who is going to beat me up in an alley at the earliest opportunity.

No, but there are many, many people in the world who do not have Karen's superior intelligence.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I soooooooooooooo need to get some Star Trek figures...I think I might still have a Worf (season 6?) dressed in commando black....
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I guess I didn't think of that sort of beating. I was expecting to be beaten up for HAVING a lavender jumpsuit Troi. Not because someone was coveting it. That would be a pretty awesome beating story though.

Ooh, ooh, that's Worf from the sixth season two-parter "Birthright." It was the first time we get to see Worf on DS9 as well as a blooper scene in which we see Dr. Bashir in white athletic shoes instead of his duty boots.Tony wrote:I soooooooooooooo need to get some Star Trek figures...I think I might still have a Worf (season 6?) dressed in commando black....
Ah jeez...there I go, all geeky again!
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I took the train home today and didn't but a ticket (because who does)
There were inspecters on the train.
And there are constantly 2 streams of thought running through my mind. The thought I like to think I have, and the thoughts I acctually have.
The thoughts I like to think I have were all like meh, just act non chalont, and if they cathc me, who cares
The thought I acctually have were all like "Oh goodness... oh no... whatifIgetcuahgtIcouldgotoprisonandgetafineandmyparentswillhavetopickmeupandI'llgetin SO MUCH TROUBLE
And oofcourse the ticket inspectors inspected nothing and I got off the train.
Thoughts I like to think I have were all like "Cool... now all I have to do is get on the bus, then I'm home"
Thoughts I acctually have went "I got away with! I beat the system!"
Beat the system... face palm @self

Yeah, that was totally "giddy girl apoplectic"!!!
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I saw a five-foot tall poster (the narrow kind for doors), in one of those cheap frames, at Value Village. It depicted Counsellor Troi in her lavender jumpsuit, head to toe, with the TNG logo over her head and "I Sense A Great Intelligence" beside her bosom.
And I didn't buy it. That's not nerdy -- it's just stupid. And yes, I went back a couple of hours later after coming to my senses, and it was gone.

Did it look like it perhaps fit in with these two posters?weathereye wrote:I saw a five-foot tall poster (the narrow kind for doors), in one of those cheap frames, at Value Village. Data's quote is "Access denied" and Dr. Crusher's is "This won't hurt a bit."
Okay, I think all the posts that I've laid on the group in this thread officially count as the nerdiest thing I've done today. I'm signing off now and going home to take photos for the next Pandoro's Box!
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Nice ACC basketball next to Data there, Karen! My niece is an asst. swim coach at Clemson.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Thanks! I bought that basketball from a Hardee's during the drive back from our high school Senior Trip. Actually, that entire photo is packed with my nerdery. You'll notice the line of Scooby plush dogs right behind the posters. This was one of the bajillion photos I snapped while sorting through my stuff at my parents' house. My two-part goal was: 1) Get some photos for future "Flashback Friday" entries on my blog; and 2) Trim down some of the junk that my parents were storing for me. Score on both goals

Chatted
While listening to a live podcast.
Never done those 2 things at the same time before (bit of a chat hurdle still).

Yeah, it was from this series. And it gets worse. On Thursday, I took Chris P. Bacon on a tour of my downtown's bookstores, antique shops and comics stores. I went back today, and this is what I found:
- A couple of dozen Star Trek TNG and DS9 Playmates figures, carded, $5 each (collectors, let me know if you're missing any)
All the James Blish novelizations
A dozen or so early 70s Trek paperbacks
A stack of TNG Books On Tape for $3 each
What did I buy? Not as much as I'd like. I'm on a budget. But I bought a lottery ticket, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. One of those books was the one where Spock meets the son he had with Zarabeth in prehistoric Sarpeidon.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I consciously try to make twooshes. As of now, I have made 174 twooshes (out of a total of 7643 tweets)
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Told the group at work that I got some books in the mail this weekend, including some poetry. Clearly from the looks on their faces, that's the nerdiest thing I've done today ... not reading the books, but telling them about it.
