Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
So would that make me Old Man Smithers, or the kind-hearted but kind of dim local sheriff?

Oh, I think you'd do a hell of a job at playing either role, but my vote is for dim sheriff.

Perhaps I can be The Creeper, then. "Coin ... coin ... coin!"
Or Jerry Reed (dearly departed) in a re-enactment of his classic celebrity appearance. I know the words to "Pretty Mary Sunlite."

Well, yesterday, I finally got a letter from the school I've been working to get into since November. The first people I told were imaginary friends.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Yesterday I felt really proud of an imaginary friend when he told me and Alice that he got into a school he had applied for.

Not being very religious at all, but not wanting to spoil my niece's day, I went to her first holy communion. The geeky thing I did was to hum various tunes to myself while the hymns were being sung, one of them was the NH theme. I also sung Sympathy for the devil to myself while everyone else sung the hymn "Gloria"

I've been playing with my new Belkin TuneTalk Stereo Ipod recorder tonight:
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-TuneTalk-Stereo-iPod-Black/dp/B000F9LRYO
It seems to work quite well, and records in CD-quality .wav files. Bonus, I found one on Ebay for $18.
Possible podcast geekery in the next week or two, now that I can "travel"!

After restoring my iPod, I renamed it "Galileo Shuttlecraft". Guess what I'm naming my Mac.

More tedious than nerdy, truth be known, but I just spent a big part of the night finding and removing 15 viruses from my wife's laptop.
As the lady in Poltergeist once said (prematurely?): "This house is clean."

You are a genius. I have a confirmation to go to next week, so I may well be stealing your idea.JonnyBoy wrote:Not being very religious at all, but not wanting to spoil my niece's day, I went to her first holy communion. The irony is that "Sympathy for the Devil" is one of the most religious songs in rock-n-roll history.
It's sort of a "one extreme IS the other" thing.
Better antidote? Probably Britney Spears, and that poses a far bigger challenge. Talk about soul-crushing!

Nerdiest thing I've done so far today is makeup for a grind that was lost last night @ 1:30 when the damned disc skipped. Oof, that hurt but back where we left off now.
Another good song to hum in church is Inna Godda Da Vida, Simpsons version.

The nerdiest thing I did NOT do today was remember it's International Nerd Day. Of all the podcasts to drop the ball on that... d'oh!
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
It's not over yet! I had an extensive conversation about Trek with my one cool (nerdy) student. The other kids within ear shot were , I think the word is appalled, at our ridiculous conversation. I definitely heard a 'snerk' when I used the word "turbolift." I think that, combined with the inaugural commute with my Nerd on Board window sticker qualifies for a pretty good nerd day.
Besides, isn't everyday nerd day? It is 'round here, anyway.

I saw Star Trek in the cinema for the third time today. I haven't seen a movie in the cinema more than twice in decades. Oh, and my towel is nearby as well.

I personally find a large scarf/bandanna to be more useful than a towel. May lightening strike me down.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I've spent about 7 hours and counting adding CDs to my Itunes library, organizing the music that stays on my desktop and that which goes on my laptop. I took a couple hours in-between doing that to weed-whack the patio and get the patio furniture out of storage.
Oh, and finally got The Urbane Decay's "Muzzy" totally sunk into my brain on a sub-conscious level.
Suckered yet again by that urbane lollipop...

I suspect subconscious is the only way that EP works.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Good day here.
1. Traveled 2 hours (each way) to meet an old friend and watch the Star Trek movie again with our daughters.
2. Browsed the religion/bargain section of a nearby bookstore, and made a purchase.
3. Spent most of the "shopping" part of the trip listening to various podcasts including a brand new one that just debuted this week. ("Hooked" from Simply Syndicated ... if it wasn't obvious.)
4. Did all the above wearing my "Prepare the Night Arrows" T-shirt as a shout-out to an online forum.
(If only I'd played some video games at the gaming/software store while waiting for the movie ... it was there, but I didn't go in.)
One more note. On the drive home, my daughter asked what "the Canadians" thought of the Star Trek movie, so I put on Nerd Hurdles. She changed her mind about listening, though, and asked for music instead so she could read in the car. (I can never read in a moving car ... how does she do it!)
So, I put on "Broken Machines" by The Urbane Decay. Last laugh = me.

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
"The Canadians"? Are we supposed to be speaking for our country? We might need to start putting a disclaimer at the end. "The opinions expressed are not necessarily those of Canada or Canadians in general."
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I speak for all Canadians, so we don't need the disclaimer.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I've spent this last week discovering the audible delights that Bit Torrenting can bring. However, I now realise how little I'm actually listening to music, choosing instead to listen to podcasts. I wonder if there's a way to do both simultaneously.......
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Checked for Dr Who DVD releases and updated my list accordingly.
