Re: LobaBlanca.comments
I want a potato peeler that makes the sick bay whirring sound.
Or, better, a snarky holographic "kitchen doctor" to take care of all the chopping and peeling for me.

I don't know. The constant, "I'm a doctor, not a kitchen appliance" bitching would get wearing after a while.

I really don't even begin to know what to say about this thread...although now I feel a bit badly since I'm going to be off the radar most of next week. Now I feel an increased need to post anyway!
And, yeah, maybe I'll re-evaluate that whole "no comment" thing. Maybe.

You don't need to re-evaluate it now. We are happy. We can comment.
Also, my mom has that potato peeler. Hers is beige though, and doesn't have any pink glowing parts.

Re: LobaBlanca.comments
Pink glowing parts usually presage an uncomfortable doctor visit.

That's what you get for drinking too much Romulan ale on your last shore leave and putting that Denebian Slime Devil in your pants.
Re: LobaBlanca.comments
You just need to get Picard to crush up some roots to spread on there and that'll clear up lickety-split.
Re: LobaBlanca.comments
Wow, I don't get to use the term "lickety-split" nearly often enough!Jakob wrote:You just need to get Picard to crush up some roots to spread on there and that'll clear up lickety-split.
I'm going to try to work that into conversation today and tomorrow -- just to mix things up a bit.

I have to agree about stupid vacation policies. The "work ethic" mentality is entirely unhealthy. The most insidious thing about it is the self-brainwashing we (I) seem to do where we (again, I) feel guilty taking any time off. Which is why I'm terribly unproductive. And posting on forums all day.
Re: LobaBlanca.comments
Whatever you do, don't whack that ^^^ mole.
I love the seagull in the left corner of the beachreading.jpg photo.
Looks like he's saying, "What's that bright shiny thing over there? ... Ahh, just another fair-skinned ginger at the beach."
I'm just jealous, wishing the seagull were making faces at THIS fair-skinned ginger at the beach!

Re: LobaBlanca.comments
I thought it was just Americans who were conditioned to feel vacation guilt. It's utterly ridiculous. I've actually been guilt-bullied into postponing vacations either by a day or by several hours because of panic among TPTB. Of course, I'm the dweeb who let them guilt-bully me, so shame on me.Jakob wrote:I have to agree about stupid vacation policies. The "work ethic" mentality is entirely unhealthy. And I agree that it is completely unhealthy. You can only run at full warp for so long before you fuse your dilithium crystals and your work ethic is forever lost. Then you end up restarting your blog, joining forum discussions, and using PhotoShop to add Bajoran nose ridges to all your photos...
Mandi, I would love to go head-to-head with you at Whack-a-Mole! Your place or mine?
And, GAB, who you calling a shiny ginger? What you can't tell in that photo is the fact that the chair I'm sitting in actually has a flip-top canopy on it. Additional ginger protection! Problem was, it was really windy that day, which is not a good thing when you're sitting in a chair that has its own parachute-type awning!

If I'm not mistaken, I was told Jay Leno made Kanye West cry Monday night on the debut of Jay's new show. Apparently Jay asked Kanye something to the effect of "what does your mother think about you right now?" I've never been a big Leno fan, preferring Letterman, but "Amen", Jay, good job. Also, South Park took a whole episode a year or two ago to rip the shizzit out of Kanye, so you know you've reached the pinnacle of douchebaggery if Trey Parker and Matt Stone are targeting you. The Entertainment world can really heighten someone's narcissism, and Kanye apprently couldn't see the forest for the trees. I also fault MTV and their "Real World" mentality towards culture for fostering this behavior...if it wasn't Kanye, it'd be someone else eventually. Credit to Beyonce and Taylor for showing some class.
Partisan politics will only quicken the tolling of the bell for the American Empire. Partisan politics is a disease, on both sides of the aisle.
I agree with John McEnroe, the Tennis Association should make Serena play the rest of the season and actually promote her sport, instead of allowing her to only show up for the major tournaments. If you want to be a star, earn that stardom everyday.
There you go, a rare post from me on "culture" in America. God, I feel dirty.

I must say, as a surrealist, that this may become my favorite forum thread ever. Anyone who approaches this without the advanced knowledge? Oh, that is pure subversive dada.

OMG, I was thinking this exact thing as I was reading it earlier this morning! It should be called LobaBlanca's Non SequiturGAB wrote:I must say, as a surrealist, that this may become my favorite forum thread ever. Anyone who approaches this without the advanced knowledge? BTW, Mandi...Kick a Ginger? I've never even heard of such a thing...but I'm greatly disturbed by the thought

Karen, I'm glad you got some Dick during your vacation.
I kept waiting for the "Foundation" review. It never came. "She must have read it during her vacation,", I thought, I saw it in the box in the photo she posted! Then I feared, oh, she hated it and doesnt' want to tell me, and she isn't going to review until the end of her vacation reviews. Ah, now I know you haven't read it yet! That's cool. Hari Seldon predicted you won't have read it yet.

Ew. I am offended. On some level. By this statement. Ew.Tony wrote:Karen, I'm glad you got some Dick during your vacation.
Re: LobaBlanca.comments
My problem is that I had a way higher expectation of my reading skills than I could actually meet. I went to the beach with about 12 books. I strangely expected to read them all, even though I was only going to be there for a week. Yeah. I didn't even make it through all the books I checked out of the library!Tony wrote:KI kept waiting for the "Foundation" review. It never came. I've got three more library books that I need to finish, and then I'm putting a moratorium on checked out books until I can get my backlog sorted a bit better. You'd be appalled if you saw all the piles of books I have everywhere, in addition to the five bookcases I have. I'm so glad my beloved was an English major, too...
I will read them. I swear. Please inform Hari Seldon of this
