Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I have to drive my stepmother to a medical thing in Toronto next week, at North York hospital.
Me: "Where's that?"
Her: "On Leslie, past the DVP. Near that IKEA. Do you know that IKEA?"
Me: "Hells Yeah, I know all about that IKEA. Great things happen there."

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Is that a nice IKEA? I've never been to that one. Our IKEA is in Ghettobicoke.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Been steady converting my "guilty 70s and 80s pleasure" DVDs to my PSP.
THE CAR
TRON
BLACK HOLE
TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA
ANGEL HEART
CYBORG
JAWS
FATAL ATTRACTION and more.
A solid PSP rip ready to rock really helps the odd bout of insomnia.
Today I am going to make this laptop press SHOGUN ASSASSIN.

Geez, there's more than one?
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Anyway, I printed out that picture of Tony Pucci and took it to my tattoo artist. Tomorrow, I'm going down to have Tony's blue face tattooed on me. I won't tell you where.

I ignored my friends' tasteless remarks while pretending I don't care about post counts and posting my 100th post.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I finished a First Aid course at work today and switched my mobile phone on to be greeted with a text message from my podcast co-host, Darren. He informs me that Warner Brothers have been in touch about the podcast and want us to do some promotional stuff for them..... I'm so excited I want to tell everyone. But I'm not sure if I'm supposed to yet, so keep it quiet, right. And if you see Darren, try not to mantion it yet!
Also I was approached by a Manager and asked if I wanted to get off the machines and become a Supervisor. Something I've wanted for......oh, about forever! I'm now uncertain if I do still want it. It would mean considerably less podcasts. This year I'd just gotten used to the fact that I'll be on a machine for the rest of my working career and, because of my discovery of podcasts, didn't mind. Our company doesn't normally promote from it's "workers", so I am honoured whatever decision I make

Cool, Antony. It's like in Herman Hesse's telling of Siddhartha. It's only when the buddha decides to stop chasing after enlightenment and relaxes in meditation by the river, only then does he achieve nirvana.
Either that, or it's an odd inversion of Murphy's Law.
I just like the idea of Siddhartha kicking back by the river listening to Nerd Hurdles when it suddenly comes to him: all he really has to do is dork in, nerd on, and geek out!

Oh maya, this forum can give me moments of Kamala-type pleasure (however fleeting) at times.Jakob wrote:Just don't get caught up in the trappings of samsara!

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
This day I have been mostly posting all we know about the new series of Red Dwarf commisioned to be aired in the UK late next year........after spending all weekend at my first convention where it was announced!
Not a run of the mill convention, A Red Dwarf exclusive convention...more of a social gathering.

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Last night, I took a 140-question evaluation of spiritual gifts. The process alone felt positively geeky.
Results?
Strongest in writing, teaching, knowledge/discernment.
Weakest in speaking in tongues, voluntary poverty, artisan/craftsmanship.
No real surprises.

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Death Troopers drops in book form this week. I want to get hyped for it. In doing so, I have been spamming the following:
You can see a lot more and read a LOT of lacklustre prose here:

Its Zombie week at SW.com.

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I've been sitting on the fence about Death Troopers since you first brought it to my attention. Intrigued, yet an expanded universe hurdle for me (Which is a hint for the punters about the topic of NH episode #35 which will be posted tomorrow). I trust you to let me know if Death Troopers is BADASS.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I am on a serious fence about this thing too.
There is a book signing by the author about 100 miles away. I am tempted to load up the landspeeder and see what's up.
Whatever the case is, their promo blitz is really kind of cool.
For example, this trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-ZqAymW7S4&feature=player_embedded
Whatever the case, yeah, I will give you the lowdown on this thing sooner rather than later.
I found a book review at FANGORIA that answered a big question of mine...read on gentle reader:
Now, I’m sure most people intrigued by DEATH TROOPERS are wondering how well STAR WARS and the horror genre work together in this book: Is it simply Young Adult scares, watered down to cater to STAR WARS’ younger fanbase? The answer is no. While DEATH TROOPERS ain’t exactly in the same controversial and crimson category as, say, Jack Ketchum or Edward Lee, if I had to give it a rating, it would be an R, not a PG-13. Here are the type of grisly and gruesome passages you can expect: “[His] entire cranial vault sheared away in a dense cloud of scarlet, gristle, and bone. His neck and shoulders flopped sideways, torqued on some invisible axis with the leftover momentum of the energy blast, and then landed with a wet splat, skidding backward in the spattered reservoir of blood.” “The right of [his] face was gone, a pulped half-moon. The broken skull protruded from his scalp like shattered terra-cotta, the jawbone dangling crookedly on one hinge.” “The bodies had been mangled like parts at an abattoir, some of them in handcuffs and manacles, others hacked recklessly to pieces, still others partially devoured, white gobbets of flesh gnawed off. Many of the parts were bloated to the point where the skin itself had begun to split open like sausages.”
I am even more interested now.

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Today I watched a streaming of Free Enterprise on the Treks In Sci-Fi forum....never heard of this movie before this week. It's is for Trek what Fanboys was for Star wars....sort of....but not quite!
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Free Enterprise? I think I used to have the soundtrack on CD, and I think it had Shatner rapping on it. I haven't seen the movie in years, but yeah, it was pretty fun.
