My personal favourites are Nerd Store, Trans-Snore-Mers, the letters show and Fan Fiction. Rarely have I laughed so loud during a podcast.

I love this show. It helps me decide whether or not I want to hurdle particular nerdioms.

Currently I've hurdled HIs Dark Materials, some Superhero tyoe stuff, Harry Potter, Stephen Fry & Wil Wheaton on Twitter (but I stand aside for you Mandi where Wil is concerned!) and Iron Man the film.

You've reinforced the fact that I don;t feel the need to Hurdle Twilight, Nerd Stores, Martial Arts, Earth Hour (I prefer to do what I can on a more permanent basis)and Transformers.

I'm not too sure about conventions and Enders Game seems like a hell of a large amount of books.

My friend Kathie says to just read Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead. Her advice is usually pretty solid. I've put a hold on SftD at the library and am waiting for it to come in. I'll let you know. Even if you only read Ender's Game and no others, it's really a perfect little book, and stands alone completely.

You should start setting tasks at the end of each episode so people can tick off on their little checklist if they have hurdled that nerd. Plus, it could make fun reading when you do a letters show again to hear of your underlings adventures in their attempt to get over the hurdle.

I think there needs to be a new forum rule banning the use of the word nurdle, and variations thereof. Peeve of mine apparently.

No worries, it's a reasonable short form that irrationally annoys me. I thank you for reminding me as I have added it to the rules. Bah ha!

I still think you should set tasks though

Tasks like:
"Wear a Star Trek t-shirt to a varsity football game."
"For a week employ the Vulcan hand thingy in place of handshaking."
"Pretend a chopstick is a wand and use it to open automatic doors."

haha Yes. I suppose when you eventually get to the Star Trek episode, ones like these would be good enough.

I have pointed a chopstick at someone and uttered, "Be gone before someone drops a house on you!" I've worn nerd shirts to public venues, including an X-Files shirt to a baseball game and Star Trek shirts everywhere because, well, love me, love my geekery. The Vulcan hand salute, however, is not the hand gesture I use most in public...and we should just leave it at that
