I feel like, ever since I joined the Simply Syndicated forums, reading Jakob's comments about a lot of the "indie-as-a-ganre" bands I used to be super into (Wolf Parade, Arcade Fire, etc.) has caused me to subconsciously adopt a lot of his positions on them. I remember just last year being able to listen to The Unicorns for a whole day, now I can barely make it through one song. Not only that, but he's turned me on to so many great bands, especially older ones, that I doubt I would have actively sought out otherwise at that point in the development of my taste in music.

However, Jakob, from what I've heard about these MBV reunion shows, the decibel level alone would be enough to cause blood spitting and fractures.

Aw, I feel kind of bad now. I'm glad I turned you onto some stuff, but I hate to be responsible for turning people off stuff. Though I seem to like to tear into things, so it must be my intention on some level. Laughing

Yeah, the real reason I didn't go the MBV show was it was at a (smallish) arena. If it'd been in a theatre or club, I would have been there. They really should have done two nights at a smaller venue. Not exactly who I think of when I think of arena rock. Actually, they may have last minute switched venues. I seem to remember being miffed about that.

I just want Jakob to put his previous work up on LastFM, or something like that. And not just a couple of cds....most of your catalog, man!

ps...I'm working that for myself...got most of the cds up there now, but I need to write my little LFM wiki entries...

Just think if you did that...on LastFM, right now The Urbane Decay is #6 in my Top 8, just behind M83 and just ahead of Rush...

That's a weird place to be between.

I'm not putting 80 cds on LastFM. I don't have enough free minutes to do that.

I do though. But then that doesn't solve the problem.

Of course Jakob, no one should expect that, it's sillygoose. I'm sure Tony meant you should just choose your best 60 to put up there.

To address your first point, I suppose I often focus on one band to represent a genre to me...so when I'm in the mood for that genre, I gravitate towards, well, M83, or Rush.

Second point. I'll do it for you, but you'll have to get the files to me first. Put up what you want to. Of course, sending me the files fulfills my ultimate goal, my desire for more of your music in my library. But yeah, I'll do it for you. And you don't have to put everything up. I have 109 CDs now, and I haven't put up the "b-sides"! Very Happy

For what it's worth, and it's not totally organized yet, as I hinted at, but here's my site:
http://www.last.fm/music/Tony+Pucci

If you're going to investigate, I'd focus on CDs #: 063, 079, and 087 for starters. Anything pre-046 is analog, 4-track cassette, pre-2000, and is questionable in sound quality and artistic merit. Most of the post-045 stuff is digitally recorded, post-2000, although there are a few quirky things amongst the ruins there (046-109) as I'm trying to organize my old cassettes and "release" songs that never were released in the first place years ago.

Man, 100+ CDs? That's astounding, man. I'm interested in hearing your 4-track stuff, I'm really into questionable sound quality.

Thank you. I started in 1986 and average about 4 CDs a year. So...you're into drum machines and tape hiss, are you? Follow the TP LastFM link above, click on the "albums" tab, and (I suggest) look for the CDs with the prefixes 010, 020, or 037 (roughly 1990, 1993 and 1997, respectively). Some of the "better" stuff... Laughing Although I do plan on making a page someday with links to the best of the older songs. Like I said, this is all still a work in progress, digitizing and organizing my old crap for the modern online world.

The only decent thing I did in that time frame was this with my band:
http://www.last.fm/music/Crome+Yellow/044+-+1992

I went digital in 2001, and accelerated my quantity as well as quality. Music software....well, rocks. Most important of anything I've ever done will be out this summer (I hope):
http://www.songsforjenny.com

Peace and thanks again.

And Jakob still kicks my ass.

Listening to Inside Out by Crome Yellow, and I am thoroughly impressed. Do you have an archive file of this record you could post?

I do like the Chrome Yellow stuff quite a lot. I'm looking forward to hearing the 'tape hiss' Pucci soon as I can. I like me a rough demo.

Thanks! Crome Yellow was a lot of fun. We're planning on getting back together again (we all live in Rochester). And the planned "Sideburns" podcast that "jumpsuit" comes from is something I'll be doing with CY's drummer, Jim.

Sadly (?), now I realize these old TP cassette songs are basically demos. At the time, it was all I knew how, or had the equipment, to do. That's cool, they're like faded old pictures, and there is something to be said for that. I think Tape-Hiss Tony and (what I assume is early) Urbane-Decay Jakob would have gotten along wonderfully, collaboratively speaking.

Jakob's far too humble, people...you can download his excellent "One True Soul" CD here:

"Widowed Wives" is at the top of my playlist, and that's no lie.

Thanks a lot! That's yours truly on guitar and vocals. We were very influenced by such Minnesota legends as Husker Du and early Soul Asylum, to name a few.

All of the songs at the CY site are downloadable 128kbps mp3s. There are 3 releases total from us at the LastFM site (just click on the band name to take you to the main band page). If you'd like bigger mp3 files (say, 256kbps), or if you'd like me to post a zip file of the whole CD, or even CD copies, email me at puccimusic @ yahoo (dot) com....remove the spaces, etc. Same goes for the TP and Rubacuori stuff.

I'm really a nerd when it comes to making music, cuz you get those blinders on and get all stoked about it!

Thanks! Look for the band Autumns Grey Solace. They are in the Top 8 on my personal "fatalinterview" (id) page there, or you can just search for them. Their own music...and their LastFM "radio station" are really good, lots of ethereal shoegaze music with lovely female vocals...I can listen to that all day!

After a day of yardwork designed to ward off the urban decay that is my yard, according to my listening stats at LastFM (which I dig cuz they keep a running total of what I listen to), Jakob has now taken his place amongst the holy trinity of my top artists, IKON, THE CHURCH, and AUTUMN's GREY SOLACE.

I have become a big geeky fan of my daughters guitar teachers band. Got hold of a pre-release of thier album back in December and have now started going to every gig within a travelable distance that they do. Even their town centre busking gigs.....getting embarassing for both me and them....and my daughter. The funny thing is, they have an EP on itunes that they did about 2 years ago, and I hate that!! But their new stuff.......Its not even the style of music I'd normally listen to!!

My favourite track is this one
