I was already laughing at this episode when your epilogue/Igor conversation began. When the banana ran across the room I nearly swerved off the road. Well played. lol!

It's an elusive little bugger. I fear Igor is going to turn this place into the Isle of Dr. Mango

"It's time for you to vulcanize."

"Woah, how do I do that?"

"Just rub 'er."

My favourite alien is Leela but I think if we're ever going to meet ETs they're not going to be humanoid, they'll probably have tentacles, eyes that cover a 360 degree field of vision and the ability to smell shame and confusion.

You're probably right. But I don't think we'll meet them unless we go to their planet. Since tentacles aren't ideal for manufacturing spaceships. Or living outside of water.

I'd espect most alien life forms to be small rodents which get eaten by small flying lizards. Probably lots of varieties of worms and fish.

Especially since the girl in the pink leotards appears to be an amputee. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But where did her legs go??

Thanks for appreciating that. Jakob didn't seem to think it was funny at all.

Vulcanize is funny, yes.

I understand the legs now. They're not pink all the way down. Ahhhh...

See, I think tentacles, especially multiple pairs, could easily be superior to hands for manipulating tools and especially for manufacturing stuff - we mere duo-handed beings are so often left wanting for additional appendages. There's also no reason tentacles couldn't function perfectly well outside water, a snake is basically a tentacle and so is a tail. If suckers are required they can be open/closeable to preserve their moisture, like our mouths, or they could be set up with tiny claws like insects have for walking up walls and ceilings, the possibilities are many.

I think it's only a quirk of evolution that us opposable-thumbed, big-brained humanoids turned out to be the dominant species on this particular planet, there's no reason another animal with a similar/better sized brain and comparable or superior dexterity couldn't accomlish the same or more than us. It just happened that the mutation lines on Earth didn't head in that direction (or maybe they did but got slammed by a meteorite) on this one example of an ecosystem we're kicking around in, I've never felt humans were any kind of superior, inevitable or perfect outcome in terms of maximizing the potential for intelligent life.

I debated the spelling of what I think is a made up word. I suspect that it is/would be Octopi...but thought fuck it. It'll do!

Maybe we aren't the smartest animals on earth (as the band XTC says it). I think the dolphins secretly mock us from our land-locked equivalent of a terra-tank while they run the seas through a means so intelligent and utopian that it simply looks like random/instinct to us.

One day, though, they may unleash the squid (or octopus) on us... affraid

Not at all, that's just the homo-centric (not that there's anything wrong with that) way of thinking, that homonids are natural selection's idea of the superior mode of being for intelligent development, like some kind of inevitable outcome. To me it's an overly narrow view that ignores too much the randomness inherent in the chemical mutations that fuel evolution, as if everything that is possible has developed here on Earth, as if things that haven't happened here couldn't have happened elsewhere in the universe.

It's also entirely possible that if life has developed elsewhere in an environment less hostile (fewer random armageddon type scenarios) it could be way, way advanced compared to us. Some theories say the restarts here on Earth may have helped lead to us, others allow that life could have reached intelligence here millions of years before now were it not for atmospheres made poisonous by dust again and again.

In other feedback, I don't remember much about the details of Fire In The Sky, I saw it in theatres way back whenever it came out, but I do remember that the abduction scenes were absolutely nightmarish. So much so that I'm too scared to watch it again. Also, Wikus could understand the aliens' language in District 9, he was communicating with Christopher throughout.

I like your style Gab, but I reckon dolphins shmolphins, they're actually just the pets of the octopi. Did you ever see a dolphin open a jar? Or actually take down a shark instead of just nudging them with their beaks?
