Re: Project Potter
I think the exclamation point at the end of Project Potter, once Jakob has read all the books, seen the movies...he and Kumar have to have a smackdown Skype call on Nerd Hurdles, with Mandi as the referee!

... I love you guys.
I would so win, though. Especially seeing as Jakob doesn't hate the books.

Re: Project Potter
All I can say is, I not so big on OOTP.
When I re read them I realised that HArry just turn into a huuuuuuuge douche bag for pretty much the whole book
"Waa waa waa I saw Cedric die waa waa waa, Nobody wrote to me, boo hoo hoo, They didn't make me prefect waaa! Cho misses Cedric waa"
And I just think... oh shut up Harry.
Just shut up.
But "Snapes worst Memory" Is one of my favourite chapter in any thing ever! It came as such a shock to me when I first read it, I think I re read that chapter 3 or 4 times before continuing.
But, on the brightside, Harry stops being such a douche in HBP, so yay!

Re: Project Potter
Jakob - I've just listened to your take on Dolores Umbridge and the Centaurs. That's the best interpretation of any part of HP I've heard.
As for who I'd be in HP I have no idea. I kinda like the Bellatrix Lestrange character. I hope I'm not that nasty though
It would be interesting to see who other forum members see themselves as/favourite characters are.

Re: Project Potter
After Jakob made the Umbridge/Centaurs point I re-read that part, and I believe it to be true. Canon true.
Re: Project Potter
You know what's strange? I had the did-the-centuars-gangrape-umbridge conversation before.
Also, I feel so happy when I hear the enthusiasm in Jakob's voice as he talks about Harry Potter. Is it too early to declare Qapla?

Re: Project Potter
I have to give my depressingly overly thought opinion on Snape.
he does not have a good heart. Any teacher in his thrities who bullies an abused, neglected child just because they didn't like their Dad. is a freaking douche bag. A huge, huge douche bag.
Just because you were bullied does not give you an excuse for acting like a twat!
God help me I love him, but he is, as JK Rowling said, "A Deeply horrible person"
I agree that Lupin's character isn't fleshed out enough. Infact, I think he should have a WHOLE book to himself *hugs Lupin*
Confessions of a Werewolf, the Remus Lupin story.

*nods* Snape was on the right side, but he was a massive douchebag.Roundapanda wrote:

Re: Project Potter
Hagrid.
We did a Harry Potter Halloween at work a few years ago, and I had two roles actually. Hagrid, and the voice of the assorting hat.
The hat part was way-fun, but taped-in-advance.
For Hagrid, I basically just spent the day carrying around a toy freshly-hatched dragon.
Not too bad.

I was the voice of the sorting hat once.
Funnily enough, I relate to the female characters more than the male ones in Harry Potter. Much as I would love to be Ginny, I think I'd be a strange mixture of Hermione and Luna.

If Snape turns out to be merely "deeply horrible" then he's not an interesting character at all. I would also say that if he's that one dimensional, Rowling will have lost all the ground she's gained with me. In fact, it will kind of ruin the entire series. I am expecting him to sacrifice himself to save Harry at the 11th hour. If that doesn't happen, I'm washing my hands of the series.

He's anything but one dimensional. Still a douchebag, though.Jakob wrote:Roundapanda wrote:

Re: Project Potter
A fanboy could state that Snape is, in the end, a Tragic Figure of Shakespearian proportions. I'll give Rowling credit, she doesn't end Snape's part of the story with a black/white, good/bad, delineation. Snape was actually, when I finished Deathly Hallows, the figure I thought about the most in reflection of what the whole HP story arc meant to me.

I'm going to draw a line under this discussion until Jakob has finished Deathly Hallows.Tony wrote:A fanboy could state that Snape is, in the end, a Tragic Figure of Shakespearian proportions.
