Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I have spent ALL week downloading Fanboys. It kept failing, but tonight it is complete.....
Is that geeky now-a-days

Additional....
I have now sat and watched the film and, oh my god did I enjoy it! Non Star Wars fans will probably think its okay but not great. However, Star Wars geeks (general fans may miss some of the references) will love the references, and the films story isn't too bad either... Must admit, I really like the last line...

I went to see 'The 400 Blows' in the cinema. As the Nouvelle Vague is so out of fashion with the more 'cerebral' cinephiles at the moment it seems even nerdier.

I tried and failed to find anyone to go see the new Star Trek movie...I would've gone alone anyway but I was coughing every five minutes and didn't want to be "that guy" in the theaters.

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I think I prefer to go alone. The family go regularly to see a movie and I'll watch a different one......looks like Trek maybe a lonesome one for me too
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Nerdiest thing I did yesterday was we have these white boards on our cubicles where we write where we are. The idea was "In/Out" and you'd place this magnet on "in" or "out" so people would know if you were around. Anyway, I made about 8 options on mine. Like "Iceland" and "other" but yesterday I changed it to "Delta Quadrant."
Right now I'm playing Sonic the Hedgehog. Also nerdy.

When we were in Oklahoma a few weeks ago, where they have Sonic Drive-In restaurants, I asked whether anyone wanted to eat Sonic while we were in town.Jakob wrote:

My daughter sternly announced that she would not be eating any hedgehog, no matter how it was prepared.
"Not even with some tater tots and a limeade?"

OK, did this last night at the STAR TREK premiere...I took my little mp3 recorder and recorded the audio of the movie. Now I have a 2-hour "audiobook" to listen to at work of the new movie! The sound turned out OK, certainly bearable for a proud nerd who totally loves the new movie!
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Sat in the van of total strangers talking about Star Trek after watching the new movie.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
The nerdiest thing I've done today is to not remove my Star Trek pin from my bag. I put it on there for the movie, and I'm thinking I'm gonna leave it there for a bit o nerd pride.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I went to see Star Trek with an imaginary friend. I loved it. I now have a permanent smile.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Nerd Alert: I'm about to go see Star Trek for the second time in two days!

Which one? Do we know him/her?JonnyBoy wrote:I went to see Star Trek with an imaginary friend. I loved it. I now have a permanent smile.

I know that Colin the big purple dragon doesn't exist because his name is Colin, and is therefore a lie.

My real name is Colin the big purple dragon...but I've not seen the new movie yet! It wasn't me.
I lied. My real name is Antony!!

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I mentioned it nonchalantly just to see if people picked up on it lol
It was Pirate Dave. aka PirateDave89 on twitter. I don't know if he actually listens to NH (he's not registered on here) but it was fun, albeit still weird.
I couldn't convince my friends to go see it cos of the stigma, even after I shouted at them saying "IT HAS BEEN DENERDED! YOU. WILL. LIKE. IT!" so I'd never met him despite us living in the same city for the past 9 months (he goes to uni in Liverpool) and I just suggested it to him, he said yeah and we went the cinema together. I loved it, he wasn't convinced by it.

You're probably right but I think I mean its probably the most accessible. There's back story to give the uninitiated a leg to stand on, if you stuck them in front any of the other films, I think they would feel alienated by all the references to previous stuff.
With this one, there are references, the red shirt being the funniest for me, but they're subtle and if you get them, you have a cheeky smile to yourself. I'm now even more convinced that I should get my friends to go see this.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
Ever fun! Meeting imaginary friends is ever so grand. We're going to see Weathereye tomorrow. We've met already though, so it's less novel that you and the pirate.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I wish I could meet my imaginary friends. I guess at the moments Matt and Eliza are the guys who I have the most contact with, but Matt lives on the other side of London and Eliza lives over two hundred miles away. I reckon one day there Is a chance that we could do, but expect that our Skype chats are more than enough for Matt and Eli, with their two toilets.
The nerdiest thing i've done today? Well, since 5 pm yeaterday, me and some friends have been watching Pixar films. Currently we are on Ratatouille, and only two of us are still alive.

Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I've just realised that my closest imaginary friend is over 4500 miles away from me
Someday ... someday ...
Someday ... someday ...
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
"Somehow, somewhere! There's a place for us." Ahem, sorry.
Yesterday I referred to the forklift I was driving as a load lifter all day and any time I waved bye to a customer it was with the vulcan salute. It was awesome. Most didn't notice or recognize but those that did had a big grin on.
Today I think when I finish loading someone up I'll say "Game over man!" and see how long it takes till someone catches on.
