Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I won a teacher union Amazing Race. Is that nerdy? It felt pretty nerdy. We had to stand on an amazing race banner and get our picture taken. The awards ceremony is in 10 minutes. I'll keep you posted as to what our prize is. What do you suppose the chances are of it being free drinks in the on-site bar?
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I won a stainless steel water bottle. This is great because I forgot to bring a water bottle.

Blessed be this vessel of life-giving water! May it quench thee in times of thirst.
Congratulations!
I'm suddenly thirsty...

I'm still getting past being a multi-Forum guy, and I don't think I know the protocol. I feel pretty geeky, though, that I just took a piece of my "hello" post here and put it into a forum post somewhere else.

That depends on what you do with it. Are you using it strictly for educational purposes, or do you also spend time on social sites where you discuss and lovingly gush over such cultural forces as Harry Potter?
Also, I'm aware that it's not nerdy, but I just wanted to say it. Because I feel the need to tell everyone.
Oh, and I'm installing Parallels on it soon. Does that count?
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I've been wearing my TNG communicator pin on my bag since we went to see Trek. Today I was complimented on it. I explained that I was showing my nerd pride.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I've been writing "Nerd Pride" on desks, it's not been rubbed off yet, so either people are appriciatig the nerd prode or the cleaners are getting lazy

Your Hermionesque workload is showing in your typos.
"Nerd prode" sounds unduly nasty.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I convinced the Burger King lady to check in the back for an Uhura glass.

I wish I'd noticed that before you guys were leaving. It made my afternoon! I used to have the same one, and would wear it with my suede jacket to be all Picardy and everything. Mine had the little thing on the back that made the noise when you tapped it.

In one of my exams, I wrote this on my rough work sheet:
What's the tagline for Nerd Hurdles again?

I can never remember, and now that the admiral has made that stellar intro we don't have to read off the card anymore. Ahhh... "Dork in, nerd on, and geek ow, ow, ow, out!!!" Yup that's it. Thanks Admiral.
In other nerd news, I was educating a few people out of their twignorence. People are seriously afraid of Twitter. S'weird.
Oh, Kennedy, I have the BK Spock toy. I think there's a rule that you gotta hate Trek to work at BK, because this is what happened when I went:
Me: "Which toys do you have?"
Her: "Uh... they're all Star Trek." (Watch out for the disdain dripping off of that statement)
Me: "Oh, yeah, but which Star Trek toys do you have? Do you have the tricorder?"
Her: *Blank Stare* Starts pulling out toys and holding them up for me to see.
Me: "It's rectangular."
Her: Continues showing me toys. Still no tricorder.
Me: "Uhh, i'll take the guy in blue."
So, i've got Spock. I like him. I think the only other one I want is the communicator. According to the little paper that came with Spock, the tricorder just says the stardate and I find that to be lame. The communicator says "Beam me up." which is not lame at all.
Oh, Spock says, "An attack would be illogical."

No, he says, "A rescue attempt at this time would be illogical."
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
You don't need a toy to tell you the stardate. It's [-28] 01275.00, of course.
Re: What's the Nerdiest thing you've done today?
I had a close to three hour Skype chat with Kumar, about half of this time was spent arguing about Atonement and other such shite.

Oh yeah, right, that's what he says. What would I ever do without you?Jakob wrote:No, he says, "A rescue attempt at this time would be illogical."

Okay, I just checked the Burger King website and what he actually says is: "A rescue attempt would be illogical."

Don't you go slagging off Atonement again. It's a brilliant film.
And was that really three hours? Hmm. I lose track of these things. Especially that one time where it went over four hours.

Caught up on listening to a fan-made audio-drama set in the Star Wars universe. If I don't get many through tonight, I'll listen to the Star Trek one.....

Now you've said that... I think I you might forever be Velma in my mind. And Matt could be Freddy! But who is Shaggy, Scooby and Daphne?Roundapanda wrote:Hayden_Bloom wrote:I had a close to three hour Skype chat with Kumar, about half of this time was spent arguing about Atonement and other such shite.
