Nerd Idols (fictional nerd characters in TV and Film)
Who are the legends of Nerd-dom?
Boz from Riptide?
Louis and Gilbert from Revenge of the Nerds?
Peabody and his pet boy Sherman from the cartoon of the same name?
Jimmy Neutron again from the the cartoon of the same name?
Do Matthew Broderick's "David" from War Games and Alex Rogan from last Starfighter count?

YES. Though I suspected I was one of the only people who knew who Roboz was without the aid of google. Sometimes I wonder if that show existed since you're the only person who seems to have watched it.
Kirk is the original nerd idol.
I submit David Lightman from War Games as one of my nerd idols. I wanted to be that guy until I realized computer science is more difficult than placing your phone in a double ashtray looking thinger.

Miles O'Brien would be my nerd idol.

Michael Knight was mine. Thought I think I just wanted KITT.
Captain Scarlet is a close second.
Captain Scarlet is a close second.

Bastian from The Neverending Story...and I'm not talking about that kiddies film either. I mean the proper book. The one that comes in Red and Blue ink depending on whether you're reading about Earth or Fantasia. He was a nerd hero

I would contend Michael Knight is not a nerd... he's a jock who had a tech toy.
And I also have to say I disagree with Kirk...
Kirk is an idol OF nerds, but I don't think he's a nerd himself. Not in the way David or Boz or someone like Scotty was. Even Chekov was more of a nerd, you could catch Chekov chatting up some ensign with a geek line like "you know, on Ceti Alpha 4 the indigenous species are nocturnal due to ... " Kirk never spoke geek-speak, did he? In fact, he as he (or rather the franchise) got older, he seemed to be even less cerebral and more action as a foil to Spock's approach.
Re: Nerd Idols (fictional nerd characters in TV and Film)
The guy/ladies I had in mind when creating this thread were not the heroes of our geekdom but rather the geeks who existed within our geekdom...
The Dr. Heur and Dr. Theopolis of Buck Rogers, Daniel Jackson (played by James Spader) in Stargate, the boys from Weird Science, Jeff Goldblum's character in Jurassic Park (or any movie for that matter), the professor on Gilligan's Island, etc.,.
Of course it's all open to interpretation.

Ohhhh, I'd disagree. Kirk is cringingly uncool a lot of the time. He's not an uber-nerd like Boz or Wes Crusher, but he's still pretty dorky. Not a science nerd like Spock, but just sort of a dweeb. Any episode where he's at a party, he says things that just make you want to face-palm. Kind of like Riker. Also a big nerd in wolf's clothing. As soon as Kirk's a fish out of water, he's a bumbling social oaf. Which is a source of much comic relief in the series. The only time he's "cool" is when he's on the bridge—that's where he feels comfortable an in control.
Michael Knight is a nerd too. But in the same way a lot of 80s leads seem nerdy now. Tom Selleck seemed pretty cool to me in 1984. But now Magnum is bafflingly dorky. I suppose just because it's like watching a show about a guy "stuck in the 80s" and those shows almost play like parodies by today's standards anyway.

If I were to go by the book, like Jakob, Jean Luc Picard is the Grand Poobah of fictional nerds. I could just hear the groans at the end of All Good Things when Picard walked into the poker game.
Riker:(thinks:Fuck! How did he find out what night we play?) Captain!(feigns pleasure) Pull up a seat. You're always welcome at our game.

Kryten or maybe Chloe Annett's portrayal of Kristine Kochanski.
Much prefered Claire Grogan's portrayal though. Almost a ladette who is well matched to Dave Lister

The co-worker whom I outed myself to, looked at me with disdain when I said I'd never watched Dr. Who. He left as I called "TARDIS, TARDIS!" to his retreating back. I got nerd judged.

Nah, different guy. The teaching profession is plein des nerds. You'd probably like him. He's a My Bloody Valentine fan. Wanna come to a staff party?

I just realized that Jakob and Langly have the same glasses.

Jet Girl, as portrayed by a very early-in-her-career Naomi Watts
