Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
Ok, well since everyone else went nuts over what got them into nerdom, I might as well go into mine.
The first thing for me was musicals. My Mom was really big on musicals and it's something I've grown up with. I still love them and my favorite shows flux, however if you ask me to watch an Andrew Loyd Webber show all the way threw I may be sick...my nerdom was later more realized with anime, specifically Sailor Moon, and spent most of my teenage years watching solely anime or Buffy/Angel. I was also big on comics for a while, specifically X-Men and Batman but both anime and comics have faded away into the background for me, and while I enjoy both still they are no longer the focus of my life. I love fantasy books, Gaiman is a particular favorite of mine at the moment and I did enjoy Harry Potter for what it was, but hated the end. Now I'm slowly making my way through Star Trek and Red Dwarf and absolutely adore Lost. There are a lot more general things...but nothing I'm really obsessing over anymore to the extent I did with anime or comics before.

Hello all,
I am Jen on the internet, Jen in real life. I recognise most people on here so far from Simply Syndicated
Nerd things of me:
Buffy, BSG, Star Trek, Twin Peaks
Musicals
Religion / philosophy
Grammar, spelling
I'm sure there's more but I'm distracted by the Nietzsche essay I have to write...so I'll be off now!
Jakob and Mandi - loving the podcasts and now the website - the homepage is awesome. I stared at it for three minutes, just grinning.

Pre-calculus? Lucky you. I actually have to do calculus.Bear Police wrote:Thanks for giving me another forum to visit instead of doing pre-calc homework.
A word of advice: don't take calculus if you have the option, unless you're planning on becoming an engineer or something like that. Calculus hurts royally.
Anyways, welcome to the forum

This just fills me with nerd rage because I remember how awful I was doing this. I don't care what cos squared plus sin squared equals. Its useless anyway. Oh yeah, and Pi can bite my shiny metal ass!

It is useful if you're going to become an engineer (as my father can attest), but mostly it's pretty useless. Pi can bite my ass too.
Count yourself lucky.Hayden_Bloom wrote:I don't even know what that is.
Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
I feel glad now that I live in England, where test papers are little more than making questionnaires and doing a bit of simple algebra.

Actually, despite my being a complete mathtard, pi has come in handy many times when I had to build something circular.
