The track is called "Nasty Bollocks." I imagine you'd heard it before.

Put my vote down for an extended remix of the NH theme appearing soon, maybe something similar to the Nasty Bullocks song, that was pretty awesome. Some Mandi and Jakob samples over a dancy beat, I like it!
Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
How rude of me, I've been bumbling around the forum getting into everyone's business, tripping over my own fingers, and I never even posted here in the intro thread. My name is Ben but a few years ago now one of my best mates nicknamed me Bucho after the villain from one of his favourite films, Desperado, because I'm too ugly to be a hero. I'm not especially talented at anything and that includes being a nerd, because while find a lot of nerdy things a lot of fun my brain is too small to accomodate copious amounts of knowledge and I don't have the collector's gene. If the forum was a kid's movie I think I'd probably be the dopey kid that the others like enough to tolerate but wouldn't look to for any kind of important input or tasks.
Reading that back it sounds more like I have self-esteem issues than a self-deprecating sense of humour but I'm actually a pretty good builder, I like the music I've made, I have a great family and friends and a girl who loves me and I'm a pretty happy chap all round. I listen regularly to about 25 podcasts I think and Nerd Hurdles has shot straight into my top five from the beginning, it's one of the most consistently entertaining shows I've ever found.

I second that motion and agree with Jay, there's not another podcast intro I like more.

Hey I'm Nick/Wilco. I'm 21 and hale from the island of Britain in a town called Ipswich. I've never really got into forum posting so for me this a hurdle i am now willing to overcome. I work on Jimmys farm (it was a t.v. show farm) and i'm off to film uni in the september. Love Nerd Hurdles.
Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
Welcome, Wilco! Is your nickname after the band? I saw Wilco last year, really good concert!
Cheers, Tony

Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
I'm afraid not. It was a chance thing in the pub one night, Me and my mate are both called Nick (by day) and we decided we would start our own fake/imaginary comic characters, his last name is Kowalski and mine is Williamson. He became Kay and I Wilco. I haven't really heard much by the Band, are they any good, am I missing out?
Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
Nice to see a new forum user at last. I started using forums late Nov 2008, but still feel quite new to them. Shouldn't really! I'm registered on many with a decent postings count on most of them....
BTW. Your riding your bike wrong. If you turn about 180 degrees on the seat, you'll find it easier!! Always pleased to help!!

Depends what you like and what you're in the mood for. They have what is considered an "Americana" sound, sort of a folky sound. They were pretty rocking in concert. "Impossible Germany" is likely my favorite song by them. That song has an amazing guitar solo. You can hear a few of their songs on their Myspace page:

Very true, but it took me quite a while to figure out riding it backwards and i'm not gonna stop just yet, wheelies are my next backwards bike hurdle.
Wilco are sounding good to me, cheers Tony
Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
Wilco, part of me was hoping your name would be Roger. What a joy it would be to type "Roger Wilco, over and out" at the end of some future post!
As for the band, their claim to fame where I'm from is being responsive to fans. I don't number myself among the Wilco fans, per se, but I do like the fact that they take web-based feedback from fans before touring and incorporate requests gathered that way into their playlists.
My understanding is that they even use the data by location, which is very dedicated (and cool).
Welcome, Wilco (you, since the band's not here ... yet).

Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
You are more than welcome to use the Roger Wilco phrase if you want, it can be our joke haha.
Cheers for the welcomes, i'm liking the this whole forum thing.

Welcome, Wilco (The Forum Member).
Edit: oh damn, I didn't realize everyone else already made the Wilco the band joke.

Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
I've been trying to think of a reply for you Mandi, and nothing I think of can match just how random yours was. Thank you
Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
I used to teach sailing and GAB's reference to 'Roger Wilco' took me right back to my days on the water. I have had the good fortune of using the phrase for serious a few times in my life. I live for random.
Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
Now I'm just thinking of Airplane! Remember, if you have a choice between the steak and the fish, have the lasagna.

Hey I'm Jimmysee from Mississauga Ontario (Toronto's chubby younger brother) I'm a student right now, doing nothing but Studying English and Film. Love the podcast can't wait for more!
Oh and I'm in the process of hurdling my biggest nerd hurdle in arguably the most difficult way. Star Trek The Original Series without any previous Star Trek experience. So far I'm enjoying it just finished "the naked time" which was really...weird and really good, Spocks breakdown caught me completely by surprise and totally off guard, I just sat there with my mouth open. Was it the virus that made him act like that? Did it affect him or... jeez Im still a bit perplexed by the whole thing. It was awesome.

Welcome Jimmysee. My favourite part in The Naked Time is when the little virus glob (was it red?) creeps onto that guy's glove. Now that's what I call special effects.
Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
Hey Jimmysee, I don't do Star Trek either but I still thought I'd say hi. "Hi!"

Thanks Mandi and Wilco, It was red! TOS is so good (so far) I love the "scientific" explanations of things. The episode was great and the way they introduced time travel was perfect "we can now travel through time..." oh! Hey cool they can now travel through time!
Loved Sulu and his rapier, they should find more excuses to get his shirt off.

Re: Welcome Hurdlers!
Hello, I'm Casey, I'm a fan of the show since day one, and I write this in my living room as the all too rare English summer sun blazes outside. This situation perfectly illustrates my nerd credentials, even if I'm not a full-blown dice carrying NEEEEEEERD. I'm a chef (which allows a lot of space for nerdly obsessions and pedantry), a father of two budding nerdlings and I've now said "nerd" more than in any other forum post I've ever made. Nerd!

For serious! Shirtless Sulu > Shirtless Kirk
Croosh! Good to see you! Way to nerd-out, nerd!
