1. Nerd Hurdles, Jakob, Mandi and The Urbane Decay.

2. Kennedy, Weather Station 1 and Weather Station 3.

3. The War of 1812. Okay, wars always suck, but I love reading about the War of 1812. Nice to see the ol' US getting beaten sometimes.

4. Quebecois French accents - I find them hilarious for some reason. Also, the Quebecois in general are a funny little bunch. At the very least, they make for some interesting conversation in French class.

5. Big place, not a lot of people. Perfect location to aspire to visit, or go to university at.

6. Jane and the Dragon. A little known TV show, but in my opinion it's one of the best kids' TV shows out there. My sister and I watch it regularly, and we're far, far too old for it.

7. The Latest Buzz. This is another TV show, and is one of my bigger guilty pleasures. I find it very entertaining and funny, but I don't know if I'm supposed to. One of the better TV show directed at teen audiences; best since Even Stevens of those I've seen.

8. William Shatner. Nuff said.

I'm sure you can all think of more.

As a Canadian, our famous national humility insists I point out a few lesser contributions to world culture, in the spirit of fairness and balance: Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Alanis, Shania Twain, Law & Order: SVU, Super Dave Osborne, Jim Carrey, Stephen Harper.

I love the CBC yet don't really like anything it does. However that's possible. I think most people like the CBC because it reminds them of their childhood and driving in cars with their parents listening to it on the radio.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much I like modern CBC. I haven't had a change to see what they're doing on TV for about a year, but we listen to it on the radio in Mandi's car often and it's just not the same, somehow. I remember when I used to wish they'd have more young presenters on, and now I wish they had more older presenters again. I think it's because their attempts at being "hip" are so damn... dorky. Like Jian Ghomeshi. He comes off like a douche I think mostly because he's a big old nerd and he's trying to cover that up with insincere "cool" and attitude. Same with Strombo, of course.

Agreed. And don't get me started on George Strombopototamus. His problem is he's NOT FUNNY. And he talks too fast so even he gets in maybe one funny joke a show, you usually can't understand it and then have to try to figure it out and then you laugh like 30 sec later. But still, he DOES have some good guests usually and asks fairly interesting questions.

Is this a new rule? It certainly didn't seem to be in effect when the story of a certain poster on a certain ceiling was mentioned. Hmm.

Okay, Arrogant Worms story...

It was my birthday and the Arrogant Worms were playing in Thunder Bay. I was a fan, but not a big enough fan that I wanted to spend my birthday at an Arrogant Worms concert. Instead we went to the local "Irish" pub for Karaoke. It was good Karaoke times, and there were some quite awesome singers that night. Towards the end of the evening a couple of guys got up on stage with guitars. They were apparently the executive (entire membership) of the Thunder Bay Arrogant Worms fan club. They were going to play The Last Saskatchewan Pirate (or whatever it's called) as a tribute to the Worms, whose concert they had just been to. Well the fan club had a few false starts, and didn't seem to know the words. It was embarrassing to watch. I decided to take things into my own hands. I took one of their microphones and proceeded to sing the entire song. With gusto. About halfway through I realized that the Worms were in fact in the bar and were the mysteriously good karaoke-ers from earlier in the evening. They autographed a coaster for me. Good times.

HEY! I went to ONE concert, maybe 5 months after that. At which I said, "Hey remember me? The girl who sang your song at that bar in Thunder Bay?" They said they remembered. That hardly constitutes following them on tour. It may have been a 4-5 hour drive to their show but by Northwestern Ontario standards that's nothin'.

The Arrogant Worms play here at least once a summer, but I've yet to make it down to see them. One of their songs, though, is played every year in our house. It always gets a laugh out of the kids, because it's one of the few times they're allowed to hear anything with even slightly foul language. It's "Santa's Coming And He's Going To Kick Your Ass." I highly recommend both the band and the song.

Canada also gave the world hockey, basketball and lacrosse; poutine, ice beer and parking meters. Oh, and we saved the world over and over again in World War 1 and World War 2.

We're lacking in the superhero department. Aside from Captain Canuck and Northguard, the closest we have to superheroes is Alpha Flight, created by an American company to highlight just how "Canadian" we are. Ooh, let's have a Sasquatch on the team. And an Indian magician. And someone who swims! And a little guy who has the powers of a hockey puck. I am not making this up.

I went to the same high school as Alex Trebek, and lived on the same street he grew up on. Different decade, though.

So many of my favorites have been well stated, but not my #1 in Canadian music - Holly Cole, and the Holly Cole Trio, etc.
Also in music: Skinny Puppy!
I've got a soft spot as well for Gordon Lightfoot, April Wine, Neil Young, and the already-mentioned Cowboy Junkies.

In film (with a fav noted): David Cronenberg (Videodrome), Atom Egoyan (The Sweet Hereafter), Arthur Hiller (The Hospital), Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters), Robert Spottsiwoode (Under Fire, Turner & Hooch). OK, maybe Spottsiwoode is a reach.
*I am so guilty of using a list for this because I drew a blank after Cronenberg and Egoyan ... y'all look too much like us down here!*

There's a voice that keeps on calling me, Down the road is where I'll always be

Every stop I make, I'll make a new friend, Can't stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want settle down, Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

Down this road, that never seems to end, Where new adventure, lies just around the bend.

So if you want to join me for a while, Just grab your hat, come travel light - that's hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want settle down, Until tomorrow, the whole world is my home.

So if you want to join me for a while, Just grab your hat, come travel light, That's hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want settle down, Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

Instrumental Bridge

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want settle down, Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

There's a world, that's waiting to unfold, A brand new tale, no one has ever told,

We've journey'd far but, you know it won't be long, We're almost there and we've paid our fare, with the hobo song.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want settle down, Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

So if you want to join me for a while, Just grab your hat, come travel light - that's hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll find what I call home, Until tomorrow, you know I'm free to roam.

I know this was the second 'version' but it's my version.
